WHAT ARE BSOs?

Do they hurt you personal success?

BSOs are big shiny objects. Do they hurt your personal success? They can be get rich quick schemes that you by off the internet. These are the ones that promise to make you rich in 42 seconds and 12 mouse clicks. Then all you have to do is set on the beach and collect your ClickBank checks. Only spend $37.96 for a life time of freedom. In my opinion if I could do this I would not sell it for $37.96 but rather would share it with my friends and collect the cash. Who need the 37 buck sale if he is racking in hundreds of dollars doing nothing.
A big shiny object can be many things. If it diverts your focus and depletes your resource then it is a BSO. The real danger from Big Shiny Objects is that they divert you from your plan. Did I use the four letter work “plan”. If you don’t have a written plan then everything is a big shiny object. To achieve personal success you must have a plan.
A plan is the steps that are necessary to reach your goal. In my opinion a plan includes the goal, date it will be achieved, and each individual step to get there including the date that the step will be completed. Dennis Becker in 5 Bucks A Day give a strategy to develop a good income creating projects that will generate about $5 a day on a continuing basis. This is a plan. He states that to develop a $5 a day project takes about 40 hours. That is a conservative figure and some effort is required to keep these projects running. No exactly a get rich quick thing but it has worked for many people. The greatest enemy of these kind of projects are BSOs.
One of the best way to avoid Big Shiny Objects is to have a life plan. The book FUNDAMENTALS OF SUCCESS helps you to develop a plan and contains many suggestions of how to better your life financially, personally and to improve your relationships. This is what personal success is all about.
